Serena Williams Says Her Daughter Might Not Take Up Tennis in The Future – Here’s Why
Not all children follow in their parents’ footsteps. Some believe in making their own destiny and going beyond what their parents achieved in their lifetime. Guess that’s what Serena Williams’ daughter Alexis is doing!

When Alexis came to this world on September 1, 2017, many sports enthusiasts thought she would be the new face of tennis, just like her mother. Now four years down the line, it seems Alexis wants to make her own name in a field that her mother is by far not associated with. Any guesses what we are talking about?
Well, it’s the field of music!
Passion over hobbies
On November 5, 2021, when Serena Williams appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show to promote her upcoming movie King Richard (set to release on November 19, 2021), she made a surprising revelation about her four-year-old daughter. The star player said that her daughter likes playing tennis but is more fond of arts, and there are high chances that she might take it up as a career in the future.
Williams explained that when she was pregnant with Alexis, she used to play piano a lot. Now when she sees her daughter tinkling the ivories, she feels somehow that act influenced her. The mom of one even disclosed that her baby girl has been taking piano lessons, and at times she teaches her how to play the instrument correctly. She even joked that she feels she has a baby Mozart!

Williams continued that she might be exaggerating her daughter’s skills a bit, but isn’t that what all parents do? Hearing this, Kimmel commented that when he and his wife used to talk about their daughter, they used to say she’s a genius. However, their opinion wasn’t the same about their son (*wink).
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time Williams has been vocal about her daughter’s piano skills. In February 2021, she had shared that she bought a brand new piano for her little one. She and her husband have even shared clips of Alexis playing tunes on the piano several times on their social media handles.
A peek inside Williams’ love life and the birth of Alexis
Like most couples, Williams and Alexis Ohanian met by chance, but the meeting ended up in long conversations and late-night chats. They first crossed paths in Rome in 2015 while staying at the same hotel, and later kept in touch for more than a year before getting engaged in December 2016.
A month after the engagement, Williams found out she was pregnant, and she later delivered a healthy girl in September 2017. Later that year, she tied the knot with the love of her life and made it official.
